To partners with participants who has returned home during their exchange, or with participants not able to start their exchange

Norec has followed the global development of the covid-19 pandemic closely over the past weeks. It is evident that the world will be in a state of emergency for a longer period than we were hoping for a month ago.

Latest update: 27.04.2020

There are travel restrictions in and between almost all countries, including flights being stopped    and restrictions on handling of visa applications. It does not seem like travelling will be normalised before November 2020 at the earliest, maybe even not until 2021. This affects the Norec exchange projects and your partnerships.

To partners with participants who has returned home during their exchange, or with participants not able to start their exchange

  • As previously communicated, Norec will cover allowance and housing for participants, and administration costs for the partners, until 14 July 2020.
  • Norec will not be able to extend the coverage beyond 14 July. You cannot keep your participants on Norec allowance after 14 July.
    • Your existing agreement covers costs relating to participants on exchange, working in a different country
    • Norec’s mandate does not cover work placements in own country.
    • This is a temporary solution put in place to cover a longer transition phase for the participants. We were hoping the situation would normalise sooner, but unfortunately it has not.

Norec will invite you to online meetings in the nearest future. In these meetings, we will present how we will follow up administratively on the changes occurring. We will also present what we can support for your partnership in this phase when exchanges cannot go as normal, and how to apply. Invitations and information will be sent to you separately.
