All duty-travel delayed or cancelled
Norec staff are regularly undertaking duty-travel to follow up more than 80 projects. All such travel has been cancelled until the end of April, and travels scheduled for later this year will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Having an important International commitment, we also have an important responsibility to avoid that we as staff spread the virus.
All trainings delayed or cancelled
We have postponed trainings scheduled for April in Kampala and Bangkok, and one scheduled in Bergen for May. This is because these trainings will gather people from many different countries, and we need to limit exposure. Trainings are a key part of Norec’s work, aimed at preparing our participants for their stay abroad. Because of this importance, we are working to find alternative solutions on how the trainings can be provided.
All staff are encouraged to work from their homes
We can work from anywhere when we have access to digital solutions, and our staff are encouraged to work from home until further notice. We will assess the need for working like this daily. All staff will be updated by the management digitally on a daily basis regarding the situation, either through messages or through online meetings. The Norec-management has daily meetings regarding the situation, as well as regular meeting with the task force of the Norwegian Ministry for Foreign affairs concerning the coronavirus. The Norec management is also regularly consulting with medical services for advice and updates.
Info to partners through email and website
Norec is sending out e-mails with information to our 200 partners. We are encouraging them to follow the situation in the specific countries they are operating in closely and follow subsequent advice from local sources.
It is up to the partners themselves to decide how to proceed with the exchanges, i.e. whether to cancel or to carry on, based on the situation locally. Any extra travel costs incurred due to the virus will be covered by Norec.
Our website www.norec.no will be regularly updated with information to the partners. Partner organisations are in turn responsible to provide their participants with all necessary information, as well as with practical solutions.
