Norec, previously, FK Norway was founded in 1963, and is part of the official Norwegian development cooperation. Based on reciprocity, it represents a modern approach to developmental challenges worldwide. International cooperation between equal partners (companies, organisations and institutions) is promoted by means of staff or member exchange. Since its restructuring in 2001, close to 8000 people have been exchanged as Norec participants around the world. The exchange is always two-way, and it is either between partners in Norway and the global south (north-south and south-north), or between partners in countries in the global south (south-south).

As an Norec participant, you are between 18 and 35 years old, you are recruited by your home partner and exchanged to work for your host partner for a period of 6, 12 or 18 months.

The infographic below explains funding and reporting all the way from donor, the Norwegian Parliament to you as a participant. Note the fact that funding and reporting between Norec and you as a participant goes through your partner.
