Who qualifies to be a partner?
Norec provides grants for exchanges of employees and volunteers between Norway and countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. All businesses and other organisations in Norway and our partner countries can apply for funding for their international exchange project.

During the exchange, participants swap their workplaces, so that both parties can share skills and expertise and learn from each other. In our experience, finding a partner to collaborate with before applying for a grant from us generates the best results. Our advisers have an extensive international network, so by all means contact us if you are looking for a cooperation partner in your field.

We can also provide funding for exchange projects where both partners are based outside Norway (South-South cooperation), or where a Norwegian partner seeks a collaboration with two partners abroad (triangular cooperation).

You can read more about what it means to be a Norec partner here.

How to proceed

1. Find a partner
If you have already found a company or organisation that you would like to cooperate with, you are well on your way. If you have yet to find a cooperation partner to exchange with, we can assist with tips and advice.

2. Apply for a feasibility study
All exchange projects start with a feasibility study. If this is approved, you will be given funding to visit potential cooperation partners. You will also receive additional guidance through our introductory seminar, which all parties involved participate in.

3. Delvelop a cooperation project
Once the feasibility study has been completed and approved, you can apply for a cooperation agreement with Norec. In the application, the partnership must outline the goals they want to achieve through the exchange and how they will accomplish them as a team.

You can read about the application process – step by step – here.

Costs and use of resources
Norec awards grants for participants to go on exchange. This means that we cover a moderate salary and spending money for the participants. We also cover their travel, accommodation, insurance and language course expenses. We do not fund the project directly or pay for any equipment.

One of your employees must be tasked with being the contact person for Norec, following up with participants and managing the exchange. This contact person will attend courses and meetings through Norec.

We cover a small management cost for all our partners. They should nonetheless expect to allocate resources for the project in the form of working hours.

Recruitment
Once you have entered into a cooperation agreement with Norec, you can start recruiting the participants.

You can recruit participants among your own employees or members, or advertise the exchange externally. Individuals who participate in international exchange programmes are usually aged between 18 and 35.

As a Norec partner, it is your responsibility to recruit and follow up with participants before, during and after their exchange. This includes, among other things, securing the necessary work permits, arranging travel, and including participants in professional and social activities at their new workplace.
