Through this exchange of health professionals between Norway and Malawi, Oslo University Hospital has joined forced with Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH). The exchange participants specialise in paediatric intensive care, anaesthesia and surgery. The exchange programme is built around knowledge transfer about various aspects of surgery programmes, such as paediatric surgery, intensive care, anaesthesia and nursing in the two cultures. Together, the partners put the exchange staff to work on establishing a surgical paediatric unit in Malawi. Additionally, the exposure and training in another culture, insight into global diseases and consistent training within pediatric- and neurosurgical health care are important aspects for all exchange participants.
