Norec provides training courses for and follows up its partnerships before, during and after an exchange has taken place. Norecs trainings is a necessary and compulsory supplement to our partners ‘in-house’ training.

The overall objective is to strengthen parterships to find solutions to the challenges addressed by UNs sustainability Development Goals and Agenda 2030. The training should also adress results for the partnership and maximize learning for both the individual and the entire organisation.

Our philosophy
Successful exchanges depend on proper preparation and training of and by participants and partners. The courses are designed to encourage active participation and make use of a variety of teaching methods to increase motivation to be a proponent of change and to foster personal reflection. The course encourage participants to share, learn and teach.

The tools and methods facilitate for enhanced partnership goals through:

  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • creativity and innovation
  • communication and collaboration
  • interdisciplinary, intercultural and global understanding

The Norec Training 1 is compulsory for all participants in the Norec Professional program. Here we invite all participants going on exchange for a preparation week in either Bangkok, Johannesburg, Kampala or Bogota.

Venue is selected based on where the participants come from or will be exchanged to, to minimize travel costs.

During the training we to through the following modules:

  • Being a Norec participant
  • Communicating your exchange
  • Intercultural adjustment in the Norec role
  • Health, safety and security
  • Global Understanding


After the training, you should be able to:

  • see the world from multiple perspectives, to reflect upon your position in a global society, and be prepared for engagement as a global citizen and an agent of change
  • describe and discuss how you as Norec participants are part of a larger community of partners and participants sharing a common vision and common values
  • identify personal and professional challenges related to living in another cultural context, and to identify and use specific tools and approaches to prevent, minimize or overcome these challenges

Board and lodging is covered by Norec, while travel costs are part of the CA grant.

The Norec Training 2 is compulsory for all participants in the Norec Professional program. Here we invite all participants returning from exchange for a training in either Bangkok, Johannesburg, Kampala or Bogota.

Venue is selected based on where the participants come from or will be exchanged to, to minimize travel costs.

During the training we to through the following modules:

  • Identifying experiences and new learning
  • Sharing new knowledge
  • Homecoming and reintegration: challenges and opportunities
  • Global understanding


After the training, you should be able to:

  • identify and express new learning and experience and to assess and process successes and failures
  • describe challenges related to homecoming and re-integration, and to develop strategies to prevent, minimize or overcome these challenges
  • analyse how your own project and experiences may be understood in a global development context
  • plan how the experience may be used to increase impact as agents of change when returning home
