Norec provides training courses for and follows up its partnerships before, during and after an exchange has taken place. Norecs trainings is a necessary and compulsory supplement to our partners ‘in-house’ training.

The overall objective is to strengthen parterships to find solutions to the challenges addressed by UNs sustainability Development Goals and Agenda 2030. The training should also adress results for the partnership and maximize learning for both the individual and the entire organisation.

Our philosophy
Successful exchanges depend on proper preparation and training of and by participants and partners. The courses are designed to encourage active participation and make use of a variety of teaching methods to increase motivation to be a proponent of change and to foster personal reflection. The course encourage participants to share, learn and teach.

The tools and methods facilitate for enhanced partnership goals through:

  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • creativity and innovation
  • communication and collaboration
  • interdisciplinary, intercultural and global understanding

The introductory Seminar is compulsory seminar for all partner organisations in a potential partnership as part of their feasibility study.

1-2 representatives from each partner organisation meet for three days to go through the following modules:

  • Being a Norec participant
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Planning a Norec project
  • Financial management principles
  • Recruitment and leadership


After the Norec Introductory Seminar, you should 

  • be inspired and motivated to continue the planning of a Norec exchange
  • understand the Norec model, its principles and values
  • understand what are the crucial factors for a successful exchange project
  • be able to design a project within the Norec framework

Board and lodging is covered by Norec, while travel costs are covered by the feasibility grant. 

The Norec Partner Training is compulsory for all new partner coordinators in the Norec Professional program. Here we invite new partners to meet for one week in either Bangkok, Johannesburg, Kampala or Bogota. 

During the training we go through the following modules:

  • Norec: the model, principles and values
  • Framework and financial principles
  • The participant: recruitment, preparation and follow-up during and after the exchange
  • Leadership, mentoring and transfer of knowledge
  • Global understanding


After the Norec Partner training, you should

  • be inspired and motivated to coordinate a Norec exchange
  • understand the Norec model, and be able to apply its principles and values
  • be able to design, organise and report from a project within the Norec framework
  • understand what are the crucial factors for a successful exchange project, and be able to include this understanding in the implementation of your project
  • be able to analyse how your own project may be understood in a global development context, and how it may contribute to the sustainable development goals.

Board and lodging is covered by Norec, while travel costs are part of the CA grant.
