HOPE — Hope, Opportunity, Participation and Empowerment

Fighting Incest, Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Abuse in Zambia and Norway

The exchange programme Hope brings together two organisations in Zambia and Norway in a joint effort to create awareness about taboos like incest, gender-based violence and sexual assault. Through the exchange the participants develop their competence on how to prevent and handle incest and sexual assault in their partner organisations and local communities. Both the organisations work with awareness with their selected target groups and what mechanisms to use for the victims.

The exchange participants that will be hosted by Response Network in Zambia will participate in community sensitation meetings in target communities, participate in capacity building workshops, work and provide support to children in schools and participate in self-help orientations, as well as staff monthly meetings. The participants hosted by Støttesenter mot incest og seksuelle overgep (SMISO) in Norway will contribute to develop school projects in cultural sensitivity, implement school projects for the introduction class for refugees in Tromsø, work towards increased culture sensitivity, implement self-help groups, and create and develop social media.
