Media for Mentors

Supporting Youth Mentors to Use Media in Advocacy

Media for Mentors is a platform to engage and empower youth to become Community Changemakers, using digital and creative media as advocacy tools for community development through bottom up approach. The project aims to activate and support young community change-makers from India and Kenya in their work towards urban justice, equal access and basic human rights.

As a platform, Media for Mentors facilitates exchange of creative solutions and best practice through digital and creative media among the exchange participants. This year the exchange project will focus on Youth & Health, Youth & Gender, Youth & Social Issues, Youth & Climate. While on one hand, Prayasam is addressing the issues of menstrual taboos and period poverty, causing deep rooted gender discrimination and health issues, along with other youth social issues, SDI Kenya is focusing on climate change adaptability and how is it affecting the urban settlements at large in Nairobi. Interestingly both the topics cross culturally affect the two countries as well, as these are more global issues.
