Courses and events

We organise open courses and seminars that may be relevant for people working with exchange programmes and international cooperation.

Courses and seminars

We can deliver courses and workshops. Some examples are:

  • Preparatory training: Norec's preparatory training helps participants prepare for international travel and cooperation. The course covers necessary information for work travels to the global south. Some areas include intercultural challenges and possibilities, safety and security, ethical dilemmas for global partnerships and practical tips and tricks.
  • Homecoming training: For a lot of people, getting home is worse than going away. Themes like reverse cultural shock, how to map the experience one has gained and how to use this in your organisation is covered in homecoming training. The course is aimed for employees that have stayed abroad for more than 6 months, and is returning home.
  • Success in global partnerships: Many years of experience and research has given us some key factors for success in cooperation across borders and cultures. This is ideal for you and your partners if you are starting a new project.
  • Safety and security: Routines for safety and security is required for Norwegian businesses, including when sending their employees abroad. It can be difficult to prepare for crisis situations and follow the risks in a given country. The aim of these courses is to make employers aware of the risks, and give input on the best skills, routines and systems for safety and security in aid work.

Our courses are done digitally and in-person. Our goal is to customise the course for the client. Our courses are free, depending on capacity. The client is responsible for travel to and from the course.

Guidance

This is for people who work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Norec has 55 skilled employees. We also have a large network of partners and former participants. By 2025, this network includes more than 2,300 people from around 88 countries. They all have experience working on different sustainability challenges across sectors, countries and cultures.

We use our own expertise and knowledge from our network to design course content that matches your organisation’s needs.

We have more than 60 years of experience delivering training, including pre-departure and post-return courses. We also offer tailored courses for organisations working with intercultural cooperation and partnerships across borders.

All projects face challenges. Feel free to contact us if you want to learn more about what we can offer.
