Empowering Healthcare Workers in Internal Medicine, Paediatrics and Psychiatry

This partnership between hospitals in Zanzibar and Norway will exchange nurses, doctors, and therapists to improve care in internal medicine, paediatrics, and mental health. The focus will be on preventing and treating diabetes and hypertension, caring for critically ill infants, and diagnosing and managing mental health conditions while reducing stigma. Staff from Zanzibar will learn advanced treatments and leadership skills from Norway, while Norwegian staff will gain experience with tropical diseases and diverse cultural approaches to healthcare. The project aims to reduce illness and death rates, improve skills in patient care and ethical decision-making, increase community awareness about chronic diseases, and promote mental health through education and better services.
