Norec network of former exchange participants
The Norec network is a place to share experiences, build connections and develop new ideas. Since 1963, more than 13,000 people have taken part in exchange programmes through Norec. Together, you form a global network with a wide range of experience and valuable expertise.
About the network
Since 1963, Norec has enabled 13,000 people to take part in exchange programmes around the world. Through these work exchanges, participants have shared knowledge, built skills and established lasting partnerships across borders.
The Norec network was established to preserve the knowledge and experience gained by former participants. It serves as a meeting place where members can stay connected and continue to share knowledge and experiences.
The network was launched in Nairobi, Kenya, in May 2023. As of June 2026, it has 2,529 members.
As a member of the network, you will have access to:
- webinars
- online courses
- a LinkedIn group
- country networks
- monthly newsletters
- the AfterExchange grant scheme
- events and gatherings, both in person and online

Country-based networks
In addition to the global Norec network, we have established country-based networks in several countries. As of June 2026, there are country networks in Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia.
Each network has its own board and works to create activities, share experiences and strengthen local engagement. The aim is to facilitate collaboration and support new initiatives.
All country-based networks are expected to organise at least one activity each year, although most organise several. Activities range from professional events and workshops to social gatherings.
To stay connected, the country networks use dedicated WhatsApp groups and mailing lists. Do you live in one of these countries and would like to join?
Send an email to network@norec.no and we will help you get connected.
PostExchange Initative
Many people who have taken part in a Norec exchange come away with new ideas for partnerships, activities or projects. Through the AfterExchange grant scheme, you can apply for funding to further develop and carry out these initiatives after your exchange has ended.
AfterExchange was launched as a pilot project in 2024. That year, five projects received funding. In 2025, eight projects received support through the scheme.
The application deadline for 2026 is 1 October. Norec network members will receive access to the digital application form through the newsletter from August.
