Work exchange
An international work exchange happens between two or more organisations, companies, or institutions that work together in a partnership. The exchange can take place between Norway and selected countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
It’s easiest to explain with an example:
- A hospital in Norway has a partnership agreement with a hospital in India. This is called a partnership.
- A young nurse from India and a young nurse from Norway switch places for one year. This is called a work exchange.
While they are on exchange, the nurses experience both challenges and success. They have good days and bad days. They learn new skills, a new language, and experience a different culture. In short: They learn a lot about their profession – and about themselves.
When they return home, they use what they have learned to help improve the hospital they work at and make health services better in their local community.
Before, during, and after the exchange, Norec offers courses and guidance for both the nurses and their employers. This helps everyone learn as much as possible from the exchange.
