Ongoing and planned evaluations
An overview of evaluations that are ongoing or planned
The Evaluation Department decides what to evaluate from all activities funded by the Norwegian aid budget. The selection is based on criteria such as importance, uniqueness, and risk.
The evaluations planned for the coming years are listed in the evaluation programme.
The programme is updated once a year, but it may also be changed at other times if there is new information, new aid activities, changes in available resources, or changes in priorities. This means that some planned evaluations may not be carried out, and new ones may be added.
Consultations with stakeholders
As part of the development of the Multi-Year Evaluation Program, the Independent Evaluation Department is organising participatory consultations with stakeholders.
As an independent body, our mandate is to evaluate Norwegian development cooperation and provide credible, evidence-based insights that support learning, accountability, and informed policy decisions.
We do not evaluate individual projects, but focus on programmes, themes, strategies, and modalities that have wider relevance. The consultations will provide an opportunity to share your perspectives on key themes, challenges, and opportunities in development cooperation where global or system’s level evaluations can contribute to learning, accountability, and strategic improvement.
During the consultations, we will also introduce ways in which stakeholders can engage their global partners in the process. These insights will help us to develop a program that is informed by those closest to implementation and grounded in the most pressing needs and priorities.
The consultation will be held under Chatham House rules to help ensure an environment for free and open discussion and sharing of views.
Tender announcements
All regular evaluations are published as international tenders. These tenders are announced on:
-
Doffin – the Norwegian database for public procurement
For smaller studies, we sometimes use a limited call to save resources.
The Evaluation Department sends tender announcements to interested parties when a new evaluation is announced. If you would like to receive such notifications, please send an email to the Evaluation Department. You can also subscribe to the department’s newsletter.
