The project Eye Education Foreign Exchange’s goal is to contribute to a sustainable workforce of optometrists. Through this exchange the three partnering institutions aim to develop faculty leaders for all involved, that in turn will strengthen the education of optometrists. This project’s focus will contribute to better eye-health and work to prevent blindness around the world.

Masinde Muliro University of Applied Sciences (MMUST) and its Optometry department, an emergent institution, will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the staff from Universitetet i Sør-Øst Norge (USN). USN and its Optometry school will benefit from the international exchanges in the areas of optometry development, cultural growth as well as a broadened exposure to global eye and health activities.

Participants to and from the Brien Holden Vision Institute will be exposed to regional and global eye health development programs, particularly but not exclusively in workforce development. These individuals will use their knowledge in their areas of interest to further the areas of blindness prevention and eye health development and grow from their exposure and experiences within the field.
