Check your eligibility here

Norec has four absolute requirements that must be met to qualify for a grant. Check if you’re eligible by answering these questions. Click through the test below – it only takes a minute.

1 Are you a legal entity?

To qualify for a Norec grant, you must be a legal entity, such as an organisations, public institution, company, multilateral or global organisation. You must have a Board of Directors or Trustee (not applicable to all public sector institutions).

Apologies

A Norec exchange must be between two legal entities. Norec provides grants to a company or similar entity, which in turn send employees on a work exchange to another country.

Talk to your employer

Individuals cannot apply to Norec for work exchange. It is a company or similar entity that applies, then in turn send their employees to work in another country.

We encourage you to discuss with your employer the opportunities that a Norec exchange offers. See the link below for helpful tips.

2 How many employees are you in your organisation?

You must have minimum three full-time salaried employees. The employees must work within programme, management and administration.

Apologies

Unfortunately, we cannot receive applications from an entity with so few employees.

Please contact us

We must consider whether you can apply or not. Exceptions can be made if you only have two full-time employees and adequately explains how you cover the third full-time position. You are welcome to contact us for a chat.

3 Do you have a physical office?

Each partner must be able to provide the staff on work exchange with a relevant workspace to foster learning and exchange of knowledge among colleagues.

We must consider whether you can apply or not. It is important that the staff on work exchange can interact with other colleagues to foster learning and exchange of knowledge. You are welcome to contact us for a chat.

4 Do you use a digital accounting software?

Norec requires partners to have good financial management. Our minimum requirement is that the partners use a digital accounting software. Norec does not accept that any of the partners use Excel as their accounting system.

Apologies

We cannot give grants to an entity that does not use a digital accounting software to manange its finances.

5 Do you have an audited financial statement?

The audited period must not be older than 18 months. If you are exempt from being audited, you need to provide a justification and submit an unaudited financial statement.

Apologies

We cannot give grants to an entity without an audited financial statement.

Please contact us

If you are exempt from being audited,  you need to provide a justification and submit an unaudited financial statement. You are welcome to contact us for a chat.

6 Do you have a partner in one of Norec's partner countries?

To receive a grant from Norec, you must have a collaborating partner in one of our partner countries. This partner must, like you, fulfill Norec’s other requirements.

In some cases, we make exceptions for those with a partner in a DAC country.

Apologies

You do not fulfill the application criteria.

Seek out relevant partnerships

Unfortunately, Norec does not have the capacity to help applicants find a partner in another country. We are working on a digital portal for this purpose, but it will not be ready until the winter of 2026 (at the earliest).

We encourage you to carefully consider what you wish to learn, what you can teach, and in which country you want to collaborate. Then, you should investigate which venues or platforms where you can meet such companies or organisations.

You are welcome to apply

Read more about the application process and Norec’s call for proposals here. Remember that the application must be complete.
