The Sahakarya exchange aims at strengthening the capacity and leadership skills of volunteers, focusing especially on human rights. The exchange increases the participants’ awareness of human rights violations, and they learn how to understand, promote, and protect human rights. Participants carry out lobby and advocacy work at local, national, and subregional levels and the new perspectives and insights they gain while on exchange are brought back to their home organisation.
The overall goal of the project is to strengthen youth to tackle human rights situations and empower them with skills to protect human rights. It also aims at strengthening the regional collaboration between the partners, situated in India and Nepal. People’s Vigilance Committee on Human Rights will focus specifically on developing tactics and strategies for community mobilisation, and increase advocacy skills among young volunteers. Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) want to increase their volunteers awareness on issues related to human rights, especially economic, social and cultural (ESC) rights, as well as strengthening evidence-based advocacy on violation,
