In 2025, Norec supported 76 partnerships with 190 partners from 28 countries, exchanging 414 young individuals, contributing 465,000 work hours.

Project participants

The participants were on average on exchange for 8 months and the work hours they contributed to their respective projects totals to 500 000.

Most project participants (55 %) went on exchange between two countries in the global south, totalling to 229 individuals.

While 91 young Norwegians (22 %) participated in an exchange in one of Norec’s partners countries, and 93 (23 %) young professionals from a partner country did their exchange in Norway.

The average participant in 2025 was 28 years old, and women constituted 2/3 of the project participants.

Partners

Civil society sector boasts the largest number of partners, totalling 127 in 2025. This constitutes two thirds of our portfolio. In contrast, private sector has 23 partners (12 %), while the public sector comprises 40 partners (21 %).

Partner by sector

Half of Norec’s partners in 2025 are from African countries, in total 95 organisations. Asia account for one fifth of the partners (40 organisations), while ten per cent (20 organisations) of the partners are from Latin America.

Norec had 32 Norwegian partner organisations in 2025, this constituted 17 percent of the portfolio.

Partners by continent

The countries with the largest number of partners in 2024 are Kenya and Tanzania, who have 15 partners each, followed by Nepal and Malawi, each with 14 partners. Bangladesh comes next with 13 partners, and thereafter Uganda with 12 partners and South Africa with 11 partners. These 7 countries represent the focal points of Norec’s partnerships, accounting for half of the total number of Norec’s 2025-partners.

Project

Among Norec’s 2025-projects SDG number three, Good Health and Well-Being, stands out with the highest number of projects, totalling 21 (28 percent). Goal number 4 Quality Education and goal number 2 Zero hunger follow with 11 projects each (14 percent). These three goals account for more than half of Norec’s projects in 2025.
