  • Preparatory training

The main purpose of the preparatory training is to prepare the participants for living and working in a new culture. The training is mandatory for all participants in Norec’s programs and consists of two parts; a digital pre-training and this week long training that runs from Sunday afternoon until Friday night.

During the training we go through the following modules:

    • Being a Norec participant
    • Communicating about your exchange
    • Intercultural adjustment in the Norec role
    • Health, safety and security
    • Global Understanding
    • Ethical dilemmas
  • Homecoming training

All Norec exchange participants about to return to, or who have recently returned to their home countries at the end of their exchange shall attend Norec’s homecoming training. The training is mandatory for all participants in Norec’s programs and consists of two parts; a digital pre-training and this week long training that runs from Sunday afternoon until Friday night.

The main purpose of the homecoming training is
to identify and reflect on results achievedand competences acquired during their stay abroadand how to share these results and new competences when they return home.

During the training we go through the following modules:

    • Communicating your exchange
    • Identifying experiences and new learning
    • Coming home; challenges and opportunities
    • Thematic workshops
  • Registration

3 months before the training, Norec sends a sign-up link to the coordinating partner. The coordinating partner is responsible for submitting names and contact information for each participant before the deadline that is due 5 weeks before the training.

Shortly after the deadline Norec sends the digital pre-training to each participant. This digital pre-training complements the on-site training. At the same time we send out a link for transport registration and dietary requirements for the stay. Make sure to complete both no later than 2 weeks before the training starts.

  • Travel, accommodation and other details

The training starts Sunday afternoon 5 PM.  The training ends with a farewell party on Friday night. Norec covers full board from Sunday to Saturday after breakfast. If you struggle to be there in time Norec can cover your accommodation starting from Saturday.

Norec covers full board accommodation in twin rooms.  The hotel is Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu.

Extra nights before/after the training must be covered by the partnership. This means you will need to get approval from your program advisor first for these extra expenses.

Upon registration it’s the coordinating partner’s responsibility to facilitate the purchase of flight tickets.  Travel costs are funded through the Collaboration Agreement budget, covered by the partner.

If you need help obtaining a visa and/or a hotel confirmation letter, contact Norec’s training team via training@norec.no.
